Canopy consistently draws work from the experiential installation field however, in the first quarter of 2020 this work fell off the map due to the sudden arrival of COVID-19. To utilize our new found free time, we joined creative production houses, Master of Shapes and VT Pro to create an online experience that would at once serve two functions we collectively found important: encourage others to contribute funds to the cause of beating the virus and deliver some enjoyable, light-hearted escapism.

We contributed to the writing and directing of the intro animation as well as sound designed, scored, implemented, and mixed the piece. Our creative director, Clay Schmitt even performed the voice for Dr. Fauci! The sound design for the game was rooted in 8bit but also utilized samples taken from relevant media such as the Netflix show, Tiger King. The sounds were then implemented into the Unreal 4 game and streamed/projected live into a real warehouse space where users controlled giant joysticks that steer the couch-ship!
